End Of Season Review 2016

A Cup Final, Mid Table and a Semi....

" At the end of the season you can only do as well as you have done....."

So near yet so far in so many ways this year. Our first season in this new league and all in all, I feel, it was a good one. Lokomotiv said goodbye to some long serving players this year most notably Ivan Rahal. We also welcomed the following new players:

Tony Plummer
Colin Watson
Scott Bright
Mason Parsons
Lee Mustoe
Rob Guest
Ashley Heaver
Matt Hodgeson

All have made big contributions to the squad over the season.

League - Division 3

We started on such a high with our first win easily dispatching Ashford Rangers. Maybe we all thought this season was going to be a lot easier than it actually was after this game, we soon realized the standard of the other teams were on our level. Up until The week before Christmas we were still looking for our next win following the opening day win. Yes we were very unlucky on many occasions with bad decisions and bad luck always involved in the match reports. However being 3-1 and 4-1 up and not winning games was just plain Shite and nothing else.

The week before Christmas we faced an long away game in Bookham. The pitch was terrible and the weather worse, along with a shortage on player availability. However we dug in that day and fought hard for a 3-2 win against Surrey Wanderers. This game I feel was a turning point in our season. Following this win and a Christmas break we went on to be unbeaten until the end of Feb. We played 9 league games won 5 drew one and lost 3 throughout the following months.

Yes we will only finish 5th in the table, but had we started the way we finished the season we would of been in contention without a doubt.

Best Game: Has to be the 3-0 win against the unbeaten top of the league team Kingston Ravens.

Worse Game: Three games stick in my mind. The 6-3 loss to Chessington Galaxy, The 2-0 Loss to Ashford Rangers and the last game of the season the 8-1 loss to Kingston Ravens.

Goals Scored: 50
Goals Conceded: 48
Wins: 7
Draws: 4
Losses: 9

Cup Tournaments

A first round clash in the Senior Cup saw us lose in extra time to Chessington Galaxy 1-0.

The Junior Oak Cup however was our competition this year ( Until the final )

We beat AFC Surbiton in the first round 1-0 Followed by one of the performances of the season in the semi final against Gander FC with a 5-1 Thrashing.

The Final However..... So frustrating! 3-1 Up and the opposition down to ten men and we lose 5-3. No need to dwell on it as the match report covers it.

Toulose - Old Boys Tournament

Knocked out in the Semi Finals By Italy after beating Eurostar and Switzerland and drawing with Spain. Without injuries I have no doubt we would of won this.
