Match Report: Loko vs Castle Hill

Revenge, 5 Goals and back to Winning Ways

" Win one,  Lose one, Win one, Lose one..... "

Apart from two of our strikers and our very own Makelel ( Muzzy ) , availability was at full capacity this week, giving us a good chance for a win. Sporting our new drill tops we certainly looked the part as we warmed up. These " Kids " as we have referred to them in the past have always been beatable but for some strange reason we found ourselves three quarters of the way through the season without a win against them? Today was gonna be different! However with a warning that a red card would see a player miss the final along with the discovery that our ref was an absolute Twat with a warning that SWEARING WOULD HAVE YOU SENT OFF??? there were a few nerves among our more fiery players.

We started slowly with Castle Hill having a lot of possession as their three pacey forwards run at our defense, nothing Neil, Mark and Scott backed up by Matt holding today, couldn't handle though. With some "gentle verbal " persuasion from others in the team we started to ease into our game. Lee was getting more of the ball in the center with Mason cleaning up attacks with greatly timed challenges. Lee's persistence was gonna pay off today as he ran across the box with a lovely hit shot that was superbly saved from their slow lanky keeper. Hayden through on the left squared the ball again to Lee, maybe a little to hard, and the resulting shot was again saved by the keeper. A long weighted ball from Dave on the right found Hayden who controlled and went through and unselfishly passed to Rob who's header was again saved by the keeper.

We were applying a lot of pressure on the opposition with numerous balls into our front two, Danny and Rob, who both held the ball up well and looked to release others going forward. A superb ball in from the left from Rob found the head of Danny who's powerful header just went over the bar. Scott and Dave also worked the keeper with efforts. We had three or four corners in a row with a mixture of decent balls in from Dave, Short, Long and Centered crosses one was eventually going to pay off. Indeed it did as the corner from our left went long and Rob played the ball back into the danger area for a Castle Hill player to clear to the edge of the box where Matt was Looming and a well placed shot found the back of the Castle Hit Net! 1-0

Tony was determined to hold a clean sheet for his half in Goal. A break away from Castle Hill left us short at the back but a great deflected save from tony was heading wide and a flat out Scott ( from the other end of the field ) made sure the deflection was pushed wide as he clattered the post.

Goals scored this season have been important but we cannot underestimate the goals saved from Scott as well. I make it at least four goal line clearances from our Left Back, which if reversed and goals given to him, he would be joint fourth goal scorer so far this season!

We saw out the remaining five or so minutes of the first half with Matt reminding everyone that we deserved to be ahead and to concentrate on our game and not the appalling decisions coming from the Ref.

Half Time

Colin on For Tony second half. As a team when you are one goal down at half time and no subs on the bench, the last thing you want to see is James T warming up for a return. Danny had done his job asked of him and done it well, but it was time for him to make way for his brother.

Far too many times this season we have started way too slowly and been punished for this. Apart from questioning every decision given by the Ref we started this half strong. Lee's energy found another level as he scrambled along with Rob for every ball available. A ball from Lee to Rob and then laid off for Hayden who saw his shot agonisingly clip the outside of the post.

Two perfectly floated ball's from both Hayden and Mason over the top to Rob saw him through on goal with his shot just wide on the first occasion but the second there was no mistaking his intentions as Lee called behind him, Rob had only one thing on his mind.... Slotted straight past the keeper into the Net. 2-0

We were creating chance after chance and Castle Hill didn't really have no reply. There only hope was the pace of there forwards. There Number 10 knocked the ball passed Mark and then kicked the back of him as they both went down, clearly a Loko free kick but this Ref was horrendous, so he let play go on as their number 10 got up quicker and fired his shot low to Colins Left hand side. 2-1

This scoreline is always a little dodgy, do you press for a third to finish the game or sit back and see the game out? with half an hour still to go, it was a no brainer for Matt, We pushed for the third. Lee was determined today, as well as unlucky, as their keeper must of had a grudge against him, saving everything Lee hit at him, however, this shot from the outside of Lee's boot on the edge of the box was never gonna be saved, BOOM! 3-1

James showed no signs of his nagging injury as he hassled the opposition into mistakes and ran around there defense playing games with them. Neil must of headed over twenty balls in the last quarter of the game as Castle Hill went long, down our right hand side.

Considering the average age of a Castle Hill player is probably 21 years of age as opposed to Lokos 30 Odd average, they started to tire and Loko just Pushed on. Rob had to finish his game in the only way he knows possible, a held up ball, a turn and run on goal with another slotted ball into the Castle Hill Net. 4-1.

No chance of a hatrick as he went off for the oncoming Danny who slotted into the midfield with only one up front, James T, to see out this comfortable Win.

Weekly Three Questions

Did we deserve to win today? Yes

Did we put it in today? Yes ( Enough )

Man Of The Match?

James T, cameo return was promising as was his brothers Danny first half performance. Lee once again was influential as was the captain Matt with his words and goal, and Scott........well, he was Scott ( as usual ) however this weeks Man of The Match Award goes to Rob Guest. Two goals and a hard working performance with support to the whole team he deserves his Man of the Match award.

Final Thought

Reading back through this report, and for others reading it who were not there, you might think we were really good today. The truth is we were average. We done the job asked of us and easily won, with four goals against a team that we have lost to twice this season. However we didn't have that cutting edge or team performance seen on previous occasions against Ravens and Gander. This is the level we need to strive towards if we are going to be successful in the upcoming Final. A win is a win and on reflection this was a good game to win to take us above them in the league and to also prove to ourselves that we can beat every team in this league as we have done so far this season, with one exception,.......... Chessington Galaxy!

Current Form shows WLWLWLW  with one game before the final if this continues then we will win the cup!

( The story has been written lets finish it how its supposed to end )
