Match Report: Loko v Chessington Galaxy

Nine Goals, Frustration, and a Loko Debut!

" On The Most Romantic Day Of The Year, Loko Lack Passion? "

Going into this game we were unbeaten this year so confidence was high. We always knew it was gonna be a hard game as the opposition are a decent team and the pitch conditions were horrendous to say the least.

Last week we started slow and  didn't want a repeat of this, so a good start was essential. We haven't had much luck go our way this season but within the first 5 mins that's exactly what we had. A deflected shot from Ash come of one of the Galaxy players and this in turn miss-footed their keeper for the ball to roll into the net. 0-1

We were being beaten to first balls all round and not enough passion and bodies on the line to keep possession and apply enough pressure. Down the Loko right saw a wave of attacks that ultimately saw a clever back heel beat out offside trap, and defense, for one of their players to slot the ball nicely pass Tony.
1-1

Unrest started to set in among the boys. We haven't seen players have a go at each other at all this season, but as possession was lost and pressure from Loko Missing, this is exactly what unfolded. When possible we passed around, but misplaced passes and bad balls were  plenty in these conditions. . Danny made some fantastically timed tackles to avert two attacks within a minute. A vocal Gary was holding position well but Chessington were attacking and a back pass to Tony, from Gary, was mistimed by the Loko keeper and the ball was dispatched into our net. 2-1

An Injured Dave came off and was replaced by debutante Rob! He made a nuisance of himself right away, twisting, turning and holding up the ball for Ash and others to run onto. As we pushed for a goal with a bit of invigoration with the addition of Rob, it was inevitable we would be hit on the break. This is exactly what happened as two Galaxy players run in on our goal, but there pass between each other to avoid Tony was easily offside but not given ? Disgrace! 3-1

Scott On For Mason as Danny pushed into midfield. A couple of late attempts from Rob, Lee and Ash on the Chessington goal were in Vain as the whistle was blown.

Half Time

Matt warned the kids to stay out of earshot as he delivered his X Rated half time talk. We were just not good enough and didnt want it enough.

Lee came inside and Danny went wide as the second half started well. A beautifully weighted pass from Matt to Rob saw him through on goal, around the keeper and a dispatched shot into the roof of the net. 3-2

We had this! We pushed and pressured for an equaliser and although we were going uphill we were clearly on top! Rob played Hayden in down the left but the out coming Keeper managed to spread his body and push the ball out for a corner. The resulting corner was taken by Ash and perfectly dropped in to the back of the Chessington Net. 3-3

We didn't want a draw, this game was there to be won. Lee running from the center out to the left and back in, unleashed a cracking shot, that was met bet a cracking save by the Galaxy keeper. How??
His older brother wasn't gonna be out done as the resulting corner fell to Gary on the edge of the box and he volleyed it really well as breath was drawn to how close he just game.

Chessington realized they were under pressure and stepped up their game. They managed to involve one of the Gingers more and it was him who broke free on goal to push the ball passed tony. 4-3

This was a blow and heads were down, Gary and Hayden went of for Dave and Mason. Rob was still running at the opposition and creating chances but when we lost the ball Chessington just came at us and ultimately we let them. They started to pass freely to each other as they got hold of frustration that was brewing within the Loko Team. As we argued among each other an easy ball through, saw there forward go through on his own and slot the ball past Tony once again. 5-3

We had lost our way in this game like no other way this season and it was hard to see us even restore some pride back into this game. A final kick in the nuts saw, once again, a Chessington player through on goal one on one and Neil had no other option but to tackle in any way possible which ultimately led to a penalty. There Captain sent Tony the wrong way to finish up the Game. 6-3

Man Of The Match?

The two Muzzys Bro's had a good game today but elsewhere a lot of players went missing with one exception. An excellent start to his Loko Career, Constantly causing their defenders problems, holding the ball up well, chasing down lost causes and a great goal, all on your Debut, Rob Guest Take A Bow!

Final Thought

Definition Of The Word Team:

A group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task or job. Team members operate with interdependence, share authority and responsibility and are accountable for the collective performance and work towards a common goal and share rewards.

Just reading that should explain why, in my opinion, we lost.

Only three weeks ago against Gander I wrote the Following
" Teamwork is paramount in any sport and maybe, just maybe, Loko understand this now and adopt this at their core" ........ Whats Changed?

Yes the conditions were bad, Yes their third goal was offside, Yes their second goal was a simple mistake and Yes the last goal was a penalty, but No, we did not deserve to win this game. We all make mistakes but collective responsibility, the ability to admit them and the wanting to avenge them is something we need to adopt at our core if we are going to win anything we undoubtedly can and deserve to.

On the plus side, Chessington Galaxy are probably one of the best teams in our league, and they are No St Georges and the addition of Rob to the team looks like a great signing for the rest of the season. We will beat Chessington in the cup final and ill delete this Moody match report!

Up The Loko!!!!!!
