Match Report: Loko vs Surrey Wanderes

Wind, 8 Goals & Deja Vu

" A draw still seems like a loss "

The morning started well straight from kick off. Mason out on the right hugging the touch line played a lovely ball into the box but it just missed Dave.
Minutes later a Loko corner swung in from Matt right under the keeper was only ever gonna be won by one man...Luke! Straight into the back of the Net! 1-0

5 minutes later Lee picked the ball up out left and ran into the area smashing the ball into the back of the net. 2-0

2-0 up after 10 mins.... We have been here before a few times this season. Loko pushed with some long balls forward and over the top for James and Luke. One long ball fell at the feet of a pressing Dave who went through one on one but his shot was saved. James turn next through one on one and again the keeper saved from his shot! This team did not look good at any point in the first half.
To counteract the wind they also started to go long. The first time resulted in a clash with an out running Tony who cleared the danger. The next time however they had more players pushing and one went round Tony and slotted into the net despite a fantastic attempted goal line clearance from Scott. 2-1

Dave switched to the right as Hayden come on for Mason with immediate impact as his cross from the right met James in the box who finished well !
3-1

More pressure towards the end of the half as Hayden out on the left cut inside and passed to Matt who hit a beautiful shot from outside the box that rattled the crossbar.

Half Time

Surrey Wanderes came out fighting this half . They pressed harder and seemed to want it more. Colin was called into action early on as Surrey started to take shots that swirled in the strong winds .
Loko's turn to counter as a long ball down the left led to James running wide and passed defenders. He crossed over the Surrey defence and found Hayden who shot passed the rushing defender and passed the keeper 4-1.

4-1 up should be game over ! Loko's history says differently. We started panicking on the ball, slicing clearances and getting in each other's back. Surrey capitalised and pushed for a second goal. A resulting corner from Surrey met the head of Matt as he defends the goal but the swirling wind led the ball into the back of our net. Own goal 4-2

Two goals up never feels enough these days. Ishmael on for Danny, Miguel and Mason on for Dave and Mark. Ishmael rolled back the years with some neat footwork at right back as he cleared our lines. Most of the play in this half was on the Loko Left as the wind naturally pushed it that way. A free kick in this very position for Surrey looked harmless and may well of been on a wind free day however.... A long hit picked up speed and beat an outstretched Colin. Lucky hit 4-3

As Loko resorted to 4 at the back to try and see out the game the inevitable felt so likely! Sure enough it came. A shot low past our keeper completed there comeback. 4-4

They almost completed the win but for some quick reactions on two occasions from Colin as he collected the ball.
Loko did push for a winner as Surrey seemed content by now at a draw. Masons shot from a corner was saved by the keeper. Successive well hit corners from Dave led to chances but the keeper was constantly in the right place at the right time.

Full Time:  Lokomotiv 4 - 4 Surrey Wanderers ( Luke, Lee, James, Hayden )

Weekly 3 Questions:
Did we deserve to win today? No ( We conceded 4 Goals )
Did we put it in today ? Not enough
Man Of The Match?

The match report this week is based on Deja Vu as I feel is the man of the match. Luke Stanton is a monster in the air as well as very talented with the ball at his feet.

Final Thought
You simply cannot conceed 4 goals in a game and excpect to win.
