Match Report: Loko v AFC Surbiton

" Football is a game of two Halves "

Definition:
If something's a game of two halves, it means that it's possible for someone's fortunes or luck to change and the person who's winning could end up a loser.

The definition of the famous saying sums up today's match as well as most of Lokos 2015 performances.

Getting changed outside in the cold wind was never a good start to the day, but with the changing rooms locked and no grounds man in sight we had no choice.

With the skipper missing, the team selection and pre match talk fell to Gary. He reminded everyone that we needed to press hard and test the keeper, who was having a day off from playing Santa!

Loko obliged with shots a plenty. Luke hit the bar from outside the box, Dave just left of goal, James shot saved by Santa and Hayden's long range effort an inch high of a postage stamp finish.

Loko were playing well, so dominant, Dave saw alot of the ball combining really well on the left with Scott comfortable behind him and James ahead of him providing an outlet for opportunities and forward passes. Danny, dominant at right back found himself on the end of a Dave corner and flicked the ball just wide of the post. Three successive corners led to minimal chances that came to nothing. Defensively Mark called the line well and all three, along with Gary, Headed away any danger that approached. Lee provided the link between defence and attack and Mason's trademark tackles were once again timed to perfection .

Half Time 0-0

The half time talk consisted of complete consensus that we should be home and dry by now. The elephant in the room is always present at half time with Loko. We just don't sustain our performance it's as simple as that!

Miguel on for Gary like for like position wise. Chances were few and far between as Loko didn't seem to want it as much. Maybe the beer or mince pies from the weekend was slowing us down as we looked lazy. Service to the front two was minimal and the defence and Tony were under more pressure.

James going forward to Lee who laid it off to Hayden, who shot wide.
Ball in from Dave to Luke, laid off again for Hayden, but the shot was over the bar.
Dave again with a shot at the keeper.

Then the enivitable, a mix up on our left hand side with three attempt to clear danger not taken, led to a ball into our box where once again the chance to clear was not taken and a pouncing AFC Striker, with a missed shot that hit his shin managed to slide the ball done how into the net! 1-0

Heads dropped as we were once again faced with the scenario of outplaying our opposition but again going behind. AFC pushed harder with a couple of missed chances from their strong midfielder.

Ismail on for Mark after 60 mins as The rest of the game fizzled out. Very disappointing .

Full Time
AFC Surbiton 1-0 Loko

Weekly 3 Questions:
Did we deserve to win today? No ( Not in the second half )
Did we put it in today ? Not enough
Man Of The Match?

No outstanding performances today so decision put to the team to make with a unanimous result of Danny Tysoe. He was so close to getting it last week and he was once again really good at right back and his attacking ability And willingness to get forward make him this weeks well deserved Man of The Match.

Quote Of The Week
"Winning provides happiness , losing provides wisdom "
