Loko 2 vs Lonsdale FC 2 (abandoned after 80mns - Home win awarded)
A TALE OF ANGELS, DEMONS & A DIABOLICAL REF
Loko had an unusual look about them today, for their first match of the 2015 calendar year. What with Dave F setting off the alarm to the garage where the blue kit resided over the Christmas period, Loko had to make do with a mish-mash replacement kit in yellow, white and blue kit.
Loko seemed to be able to hold it together in the first few minutes despite several Lonsdale inroads down our wings - especially on our right hand side.
On 6 minutes a Matt F freekick found Adil’s head and the prodigal son of Catalunya header hit the crossbar. From the resulting corner, Adam’s powerful header was goal-bound only for their talsimanic and gigantic centre back Steve a.k.a Adolf to save on the goal line.
On 13 minutes, Chris attempted a pass from the right hand side of the pitch across the box to one of his teammates but their number 14 intercepted the ball and arrowed a shot into the right hand side of the net from 15 yards out, leaving newbie keeper Mo no chance at all.

Loko didn’t have to wait for their next opportunity though. On 21 minutes, Adil scarpered off the middle of the park to connect with a long punt down the field and he tried to chip the keeper from 20 yards out but the ball missed the target by a yard.
This was followed on 38 minutes by Hayden who escaped his marker down the left wing and was seriously clattered by one of their defenders but, unlike on previous occasions, the terrible ref played the advantage for Tom to face an empty goal and mysteriously miss the open target from 5 yards out.
The game was a very clean one by recent standards but the ref felt he had to pull a yellow card for Neil’s unintentional foul on one of their skinny defenders who was being cheeky enough to want to go past our sturdy centre back.
Lonsdale were always dangerous though and making the most of the many boulevards down the middle of the park .
Again, their tall number 14 was the man to watch and on 42 minutes, with only our keeper to face he looked like he was going to give Lonsdale breathing space but Mo pulled a great save and the rebound was cleared by Chris on the line.
As the first half was coming to an end, ADIL restored parity with a great, opportunistic header out of their keeper’s reach.

In the second half, the game was even but on 62 minutes, Lonsdale breached the Loko defence and their number 14 slipped the ball under Mo’s diving body on the edge of the box to make it 2-1.
What followed was a succession of incredible opportunities that were missed by Adam, Pearce and Adil.
Thankfully, on 74 minutes Loko equalised again when Adil rolled the ball from the far right to Matt F who whipped in a cross that came off one of their defenders only for PEARCE to half volley into the back of the net from 5 yards out.
Loko now had the wind in their sail whilst the ref, who had had a very poor game up until then, wasted a lot of time arguing with players and eventually showed a red card to their number 14 who was being argumentative and even threatened the ref claiming the man in black was picking on him.
As feeling was running high, Loko were keeping schtum and really behaving like choir boys and not getting involved. Eventually Adolf decided to walk off the pitch in support of his player whilst other Lonsdale players were very agitated and threatening to do likewise - so the incompetent ref decided to call it a day on 81 minutes.
So yet another abandoned match vs Lonsdale – all of this is getting a bit tiresome and it is reported that the league is now likely to award Loko the 3 points.
Man of the Match: ADAM who was brilliant in central defence and made a few incisive forays into the Lonsdale box.
