Match Report: Fc Selchp vs Loko

Sportsman's League, Senior Amateur Division
Sun 21 September 2014
Loko 1 vs FC Selchp 9

LOKO SUFFER WORST DEFEAT IN 4 YEARS

Logic would have it that this match report would have been written by either a player involved in the proceedings or watching from the sideline. However, given the severity of the loss, none of the people involved on the day had the heart to report on the game so it is left to Ivan to knock a report together based on some of the players'feedback.

In a nutshell, FC Selchp have been in  the top division for a few years, they are all in their early twenties, run non-stop, are super fit and happen to be technically excellent. As Woody commented, it was like FC Sutton playing against FC Barcelona. In fact, their right back happens to be nicknamed Messi and was even giving James T the runaround.

Despite the one-way traffic, Loko managed to hang in there for the first 25 minutes. But then the floodgates opened and Loko conceded 4 before half time.

JAMES T (pictured) pulled one back but Selchp managed to score another 5 in the second half. From all accounts, although Loko heads dropped very quickly, it was probably a case of Selchp being top notch rather than Loko having a bad day at the office.

As Woody said, today's opponents are the best league he's played against since he joined the league 7 years ago, a comment supported by Matt F who said they are the best Sunday (and Saturday) league team he has ever played against. For the record, this was also Loko's worst defeat since the 8-0 loss to London Rangers in October 2010.

All in all, despite a relatively good start to the season, some Loko players might feel despondent. We're not going to win the league but, we can certainly hold our own against half of the teams in the league so cheer up guys!

M.O.M: Without John in goal, this could have turned into a cricket scorte so MOM goes to the legendary Irishman.
