Moormead United 0 vs Loko 4

FREE-FLOWING LOKO DEMOLISH MOORMEAD

Loko were out in force today against a team that we have never managed to beat in our pre-season friendlies over the past two seasons.

Manager-for-the-day Ivan decided to bench himself for the day on account of his black eye and he fielded a conservative 4-4-2 designed to contain the opposition.

The pitch was smooth and it was indeed a lovely day to play football - until the heavens opened midway through the match.

Loko were dominating across the field and our forward players' young age and energy was sometimes too much for the older Moormead outfit. Our midfield were composed whilst our defence were being solid with Morris in particular enjoying one of his best ever Loko performances.

On 17 minutes Sam, who had earlier engaged in some argie bargie with one of their defenders and got sinbinned for 5 minutes, zoomed down the wing and clear of his marker. He then passed across the middle to Matthew who laid it on for Mo (pictured above). Our new whizzkid shot from the edge of the box past the keeper and off the top right into the empty net.

It got better when, on 24 minutes, James sauntered into the box unchallenged and placed his shot past the keeper's bottom left.

The second half was much of the same. On 55 minutes, Matt went past his defender and his shot grazed the outside of the keeper's right post. Then Morris skipped past his opponent down the right wing easily and in forward style, all of which proved that Loko were now cruising.

Confirmation came in the 67th minute when James's cross from the right got deflected by a defender into his own goal despite James's wild celebrations and hope of claiming this one as his own.

It wasn't all over though. A couple of Moormead players were causing us trouble but goalie for the day Ismail was in fine form, especially when he stopped a pointblank header in spectacular fashion on 76 minutes.

Finally, on 80 minutes, Matt ran down the wing and passed to Mo across the box who rounded his defender, checked another one and fired his second goal past the keeper's right post.

Final score: Moormead 0 vs Loko 4

M.O.M:
A second award in 2 weeks for MO who showed flair and determination in equal measures and crowned his performance with two well taken goals. Special mentions to Ismail, Morris, Sam and James.

Line-up:
Ismail - Johnny (then Drew), Mark, Morris, Marcel - Alexei (then Alex, then Andre), Matt, Sam, Mo - James, Matthew
