Loko 1 vs Pacific Sporting Jubilee 3

INDIVIDUAL ERRORS COST LOKO DEAR

Loko fielded an experimental team, once again. In fact the team was a rather attacking-minded one and the whole squad looked very different from the last pre-season 2 weeks previously, ie very young (especially compared to Pacific!) and keen to score!

Sadly, the game got off to the worst possible start. Alex lost possession in the middle of the park as he was going to pass back to Drew in defenc. The Pacific forwards pounced on the loose ball and advanced like a pack of hungry wolves and their number 10 outmanoeuvred our retreating defence and scored a sloppy goal only after 1 minute.

Loko didn’t seem to lose heart though and midway through the second half, JACK (Terry’s mate) took advantage of a long punt from John from his own box to arrow a shot from 20 yards out over their keeper’s head and into the empty net to equalise.

Loko were now dominating and passing the ball neatly but lost their way again when Ivan misjudged a ball on the byeline and didn’t clear it. Pacific scored from the resulting corner at the far post.

Half time: Loko 1 vs Pacific Sporting Jubilee 2

The second half saw Loko take more possession in particular  with newcomer Mo who had a blinder. On 65 minutes, James looked like he was going to equalise when he faced their keeper one on one on the edge of the box but his shot went wide.

Loko nailed their own coffin though when, following an unchallenged shot from the edge of the box, John made a very rare (and rather comical) mistake. He stepped to the right of his goal as a shot went wide and, as he was trying to shepherd the ball out of play, somehow managed to score a diagonal backheel into his own net.

From then on, Loko made various attempts but there was simply not enough power and determination – and not enough tracking back to salvage the day!

M.O.M: Mo, who showed a lot of promise for his first game

Line-up: John – Jack, Drew, Ivan, Terry – Alex, Ismail – Jack, James – Matthew, Dave’s mate.
Various rolling on-off substitutions using Mo, Sam and Dave’s other mate.
