Match Review: Battersea Elite vs Loko

League - Sportsmans League, Division 2
Sunday 28 Oct
Battersea Elite 0 vs Loko 2

COCKY LOKO BAG THREE POINTS

Loko turned up with squad of 13 players today knowing that they had to put on a better performance from the week before

Loko started the game quite well compared to recent weeks. Battersea on the other hand looked like an under 15 team, with no particular shape to their team and relying on their number 11

Midway through the first half the ball got played to Adil on the right hand side of the box. He laid it back to Neil who swung the ball in first time. Luckily for Loko LAWRENCE was unmarked and from 8 yards out headered the ball into the bottom left hand corner. Battersea's defence appealed for offside but the ref wasn't going to give it

But Loko were unable to combine and leaving too much space between the midfield and the defence. Battersea were coming back into it and had 3 chances in the space of 10 minutes. Their striker got in 1 v 1 against John, but put his effort wide. Then John saved with his feet from the right winger and Neil came in with a last ditch tackle just before their number 11 was about to pull the trigger

Luckily enough for Loko their chances went begging but our next one was given given to us on a plate.

Matt (told you you would get a mention) played a through ball meant for Adil. The keeper came out to gather the ball, but instead dropped an absolute clanger which ADIL took in his stride to prod home into an empty net

5 minutes later it should've been 3-0. Lawrence played a trhough ball to Adil. The linesman put the flag up for offside, then put it back down. Adil smacked the ball against the crossbar, but Lawrence tapped in the rebound. Again the Battersea defence claimed offside!! The ref went over to the linesman to debate it. Guess what offside given!!

Half time: Battersea Elite 0 v Loko 2
Terry reshuffled the team following taking off Andre and putting on Kevin, with Lawrence playing holding midfield now. The manager stated that the game was far from over and one goal from them would get them back into the game!!!

Loko now looked more balanced in midfield and with James and Kevin on the wings were causing their wing backs problems. Loko had chance after chance to make it 3-0, but because of comical finishing or trying to pass it in could not get the 3rd goal.

James squared the ball to Kevin, who scuffed his chance from 6 yards out. Adil should've squared the ball to Kevin to tap home but instead went alone and the attack fizzled out.

Marcel came on for the injured Ivan, with Neil coming into the centre and Jake moving from left back to right back

Battersea werent giving up though!! They were having more of the ball and a big chance came to their number 11 who went on a mazy run on the left, cut in and curled a shot destined for the top corner. But our Irish keep got a big head...yes head to the ball and turned the ball round the post.

More and more chances came Loko's way. A corner from the right by Kevin came to Jake at the front post. He managed to get the ball and toe a shot into the side netting. From another corner by Kevin, Jake got a flick on at the near post. The ball flew through the 6 yard box and Neil was inches away from getting on the end of it.
Loko had another disallowed goal with a great flick on by Dave with the ball falling to James' feet. He rounded the keeper, but again the linesman put his flag up for offside. Again another dubious decision.
Moments later Loko had their 3rd disallowed goal. As lawrence headed in from a Kevin corner, the ref disallowed it as another ball was on the pitch.

Full time: Battersea Elite 0 v Loko 2

Manager Terry said: "A good result but not a great one. Battersea are probably the poorest team in our league. In the second half we couldn't get the third goal in, and couldn't kill the game off. If we can do it, it will take the pressure off us."

Man of the match: MOM goes to Neil. In my eyes he didn't put a foot wrong in the whole 90. Special mentions go to Matt, John, Lawrence and Jake

Line-up: John - Neil, Said, Ivan (Marcel , 60), Jake, Andre (Kevin, 46), Matt, James, Dave, Lawrence, Adil
