Match Report: Loko vs Old Tenisonians

Friendly
Sunday 19 August
Loko 0 vs Old Tenisonians 0

LOKO DRAW IN SWELTERING HEAT

Loko took to the field on a hot afternoon and in such sticky conditions that the ref decided to have a pitstop break midway through both halves to avoid the players getting completely dehydrated.

Both teams found it very difficult to keep the ball under control and it is fair to say that the game was scrappy right from the word go. Loko were missing many of their more attack-minded forwards whereas Tenisonians only managed to get  a bare eleven out.

Chances were few and far between. Whenever Tenisonians' big centre forward was trying to escape the attention of Darren and Ivan in central defence, Loko managed to snuff his chances out especially with new keeper John who looked very solid in goal. In midfield, Terry was more subdued than usual possibly because, in his words, it felt "awkward" to be playing vs his Saturday team.

Loko's chances were reduced to a clear opening for Luiz who found himself clear on goal but hit the crossbar whilst Rhyce caused the Tenisonians' defence all sorts of problems not only with his feet but also with his hands, as he got involved in some argie bargie with a Tenisonians midfielder.

However, Loko were unable to develop their game despite Said being as assured in midfield as usual and playing the ball on the floor unlike many of his teammates who preferred the long ball option.

The game looked like a 0-0 and, sure enough, it ended goalless..

Club Secretary Ivan said: "This was not the prettiest of games we have played this season but at least we got our first clean sheet of the season."

Man of the Match: JOHN - true, John didn't have much to do today but whenever he was needed, he was assured and commanding. Well done! Special mention to Said and Marcel.

Line-up: John - Stefano, Darren, Ivan (then Gregor, 46'), Marcel - Said, Andre, Craig, Joe (then Rhyce, 25') - Terry, Luiz
