Match Report - Loko vs Moormead Utd

Friendly
Sunday 12 August
Loko 2 vs Moormead Utd 2

LOKO LET VICTORY SLIP

Loko were back in action after a month's break at Prince George's Playing Fields in Raynes Park and on a sultry Summer day.

Kick off was delayed by a car boot sale guy being late in clearing his rubbish (and his car!) off the pitch and Loko's first few touches were in keeping with the theme - chaotic and poor.

Thankfully Moormead were unable to capitalise due to their lack of aplomb in front of goal but also thanks to Terry who volunteered to go in goal and was pulling off save after save to keep us in the game.

Luck was on Loko's side who somehow managed to keep their heads above water but the display was certainly not on a par with some of the team's high standards at the tournament in Belgium last May.

Again, James was sending the opposing defence into panic attacks with his raids and on 29 minutes, with Shane laying the ball nicely for him to run on, JAMES found space on the right side of the box and placed a sweet left shot neatly into the goalie's bottom right corner.

Loko 1 Moormead 0.

In the second half, with Loko sustaining yet more Moormead onslaughts, JAMES again found himself clear on goal and took a shot in the box which hit the keeper and comically rebounded off our forward's face into the goal, to the cheers of all  the players including James who almost got knocked out in the process!

Loko 2 Moormead 0

Yet with only 12 minutes on the clock, Loko conceded an easy goal when a cross from the left was not challenged and was tucked into our goal. Despite Terry playing out of his skin in goal and palming efforts into touch and over the bar time and time again, a cross from the right saw their number 8 equalise with only 2 minutes to go....

Said Loko Club Secretary Ivan: "Poor performance over all. We're missing our core team and it shows. Today we got away with it but this season is going to be a challenging one so let's focus on playing the beautiful game like we have done in the past!"

Man of the Match: TERRY - what a brilliant performance!

Line-up: Terry-Marcel (then Andre 25'), Ivan (then Gregor 30'), Darren, Jake -Stefano, Shane, Charlie, Jim, Lawrence, James.
