Match Report: Parthenote vs Loko

Friendly
Sunday 15th July
Parthenote 8 vs Loko 2

LOKO MISTAKES PROVE FATAL

The first game of the season was played with 13 players including half of the regulars, a few new players from the tournament and three Gumtree triallists.

Parthenote have just joined the Sportsmans League and, although not as good as some of the leading teams in the league last season, they meant business right from the start.

Loko conceded 5 soft goals in the first half only. The first one from a corner where their forward was unmarked and headed the ball in from 2 yards out, the second one as he overtook Stefano and dodged our keeper Gregor and slotted the ball in. The third one where Ivan was at fault and didn't head the ball away whilst one of their forwards was lurking just in front of our keeper and nicked it over Gregor's head. The fourth one was an Ivan og and the fifth one yet another lapse in defence.

Despite this onslaught, Loko were doing well, passing the ball around nicely but never threatening too much. However, on 37 minutes, a long Marcel throw found Lawrence's head who nodded the ball past their defence onto DANIEL who tapped it in for Loko's season opener.

Half time: Parthenote 5 vs Loko 1

The second half saw yet more defensive lapses and 3 more goals conceded by Marcel who was putting in a decent shift as volunteer goalie.

The only light at the end of the tunnel was a brilliant solo effort from midfield where RHYCE swivelled past  2 defenders and unleashed a superb screamer from 25 yards out into the roof of the net. The Parthenote keeper was certainly no slouch but there was nothing he could do about this beautiful effort.

Said Loko Club Secretary Ivan: "We were missing key forwards today and never looked too threatening going forward. However, we were woeful in defence today hence the demolition job Parthenote did on us today. This is just a friendly so we should not cry over spilt milk but we really need to strengthen the team very quickly."

Man of the Match: RHYCE - a superb solo effort and a great attacking performance. Special mention to Said for his composure under pressure and great passing ability.

Line-up: Gregor (then Marcel 46') - Stefano, Said, Ivan, Kevin (then Peter 30;) - James B, Dave F, Daniel, Rhyce - Lawrence, Luiz
