Captain's Corner - September 2005

During the coming month's our Captain Paul Dwinfour will be providing us with his views on how he sees the club progressing and how we can improve and move forward. This is his September installment:

"The new season is upon us and there’s much reason for optimism in my view. So many positives came out of last season when, after a very poor start, we acquitted ourselves well in our first full season in a competitive league. This year we go into the competition with a more settled side and, hopefully, more confidence in our abilities as a team.

It is important that we adopt a positive attitude to each match we play regardless of whether some players may be unavailable from time to time. Also, throughout each game and in all competitions, we should maintain a good spirit towards each other and towards our opponents. Remember, the primary reason for our participation is enjoyment.

A good start to the league season could realistically see us in the top 4 or 5 and I believe we are good enough to stay there. We proved last year, particularly against the likes of Celtic and SW6, that on our day we are a match for anyone. We just need to make sure it is our day more often."
